5800x and 360mm AIO, are my temps too hot?

I have a 5800x and ML360R, i feel like my cooler isn't doing a great job, im hitting 90c at stock and around 4.0-4.1ghz multi core CB23.

With curve optimiser and PBO2 enabled this is slightly better and i get ~4.6ghz (4575mhz) all core, but my temps are still in the upper 80s (87-89c).

Rad fans are maxed out, and pump is max speed. Its exhausting up in my NZXT H710. I thought it might be an airflow issue, so i even opened the case side panel, but temps didn't change.

Is there something possibly wrong with my cooler or chip?

What temps are people getting with a 5800x and 360mm aio under load at 4.6ghz?

Any advice?

Thanks

Yeah i think they should have a part thread so they only go so far
Okay, so i just repasted and tightened the screws, so far i dont think i see a temperature change. if anything maybe 1-2c but that could be due to lower ambient temp now that its night.

One thing i did notice is, one of the screws seems to be much tighter than the other one. But they both are tightened all the way (as much as my fingers let me). Its at a weird angle too, not sure if this is causing the cooler to not sit flat?

I took some pictures. https://imgur.com/a/oYN3mcj

That angle does look off, you sure you got the square bit under the hook on the plastic mount and not on the edge?
What do you mean by on the edge? I'm pretty sure it was completely in place. But yeah it does seem really odd that one of them is bent like that and the other isn't. IMO temps are bad for an AIO of this size? Something isn't right surely? 90c at stock with full pump and fan speed.

Edit: had a look again and took some pictures. The top mount looks fine, not sure about the bottom? https://imgur.com/a/4M68ubS

Personally your pump is probably screwed. If mounting and everything is fine, then what other possibility is there? You can try another AIO or Air cooler.
Yeah it probably is. It's running at 2400rpm. To be honest I have heard some odd noises from it sometimes, so maybe it's going bad. My temps have always been like this so maybe I got a dud unit. Unfortunately it's out of warranty too.

I might get another cooler and test/ compare it. Any recommendations on 360mm aios that aren't too expensive and look relatively decent?

Well if swapping the cooler does not make a difference, then I guess the CPU is bust maybe.
Yup, Im pretty sure the CPU is okay, it might not be the greatestly binned chip, but i think its not too bad. Cos i previously had a 3800x and its temperatures were pretty high (not as high as the 5800x tho) with this cooler too. I thought it was just natural ryzen temps.

Thoughts on the Corsair H150i Elite Capellix?

I'm just installing one in mine today, they should be angled like that and they both should match, you got to really crank on the thumb screws, mines got 3 to 4mm thread sticking out
Talking about the ml360r I assume? That's interesting, the bottom one is like that but the top won't tighten anymore for me?

Report back when tested.
Got the new cooler today, can confirm I think I had a faulty ml360r. New temps are around 80c at stock, and 82c with pbo + curve optimiser at 4.65ghz all core. I think if I tweak pbo a bit more I can get it to run slightly faster.

Idle temps are also a good 5-10c lower.

New fans are also so much quieter than the cooler master ones (they had a weird vibration noise)

Come to think of it, I wonder if I got a bad unit with the ml360r, pump and fans. Maybe it was damaged in shipping or something. I should have been smarter and returned it or RMA'd it when I heard the fan and pump noise. It all makes sense now.

Suprised it held up for two years tho. So it wasn't completely dead, just slightly damaged maybe.

EK AIO 360 basic on 5800X, max temp of 87.9c
5800X is a very hot chip due to density of the die in such a small area, I run mine at 4.8ghz all core.

The person saying they have 5ghz all core either has a 0.0000001% chip or has never stress tested with anything more than CSGO.
What sort of pbo settings are you running to get 4.8 all core?

I feel like I have a decent chip, I'm currently getting 4.65 all core. I'm currently working on getting CO as low as I can, currently stable at -24 on nearly all cores (except fastest two).

Not sure what to do to pbo limits tho. And any other settings in bios I should change? I've set my LLC to high (gigabyte) and disabled c states.

Does anyone here have a good OC guide for the 5800x now that ive finally got good cooling? So far im playing around with curve optimizer. What's the best order to do things? Ive found that my fastest core is limited to -15. I am using corecycler as well as just idling on the desktop to test for stability. Should i just repeat the same method core by core? So move onto the next core and drop it as far as i can go without errors and WHEAs? Rinse and repeat? From what ive read this is the way to go?
And then once i have found a curve i can work on autoOC and then dropping the curve slightly if needed? What about PBO limits?
