5850 capable of 1920 gaming?

Snooble, so you are saying that your EVGA 8800GTX does not perform well in MW2? Would you be able to give us details of the exact settings you used in MW2 and the average framerates you experience during play? Also, are you playing at 1920x1200, 1680x1050 or something else?
From this review MW2 does make use of more than 2 cores - so your 2.4GHz Core 2 Quad is more than capable of playing this game well. However, it would be a good idea to give it a clock if your motherboard is good (though you would need to buy a new CPU cooler if you are currently using the stock one)- always nice to have the extra power in your back pocket.

Yeah I have a new cooler on it, just haven't got round to clocking it up yet. Will do this weekend most likely.
My 8800gtx performs fine in MW2. Just not with everything on max with any AA. If I start with the AA, I start getting performance drops from smoke/flash nades, any on screen effects.
I'm used to playing my games at 120fps+ on a 120htz monitor without tearing, but settle for much less when it comes to cod/crysis etc - just not spikes beneath <50-60.
Anyway, everyone's different, just better for OP to know that they're not playing on MAX if I'm next to them with AA on 16x...

That'll be the confusion - I find 40ish playable in MW2, 30 Crysis and only max out the AA if I start noticing annoying jaggies.

I've just moved from crossfired 5770s to a 5850, and the only game that I have had a noticeable drop in performance has been Just Cause 2 (most likely due to long draw distances and such).
Everything else plays fine at 1920
