5870, monitor going to standy

Had my 5870 for over a month now without problems until recently my monitor has been going to standby within 5 - 10 mins of windows 7 booting. First I thought it was cat 9.12s so went back to 9.11s and it still did it. Then I thought it was my cards bios, I flashed it to the msi unlocked so I flashed it using the asus unlocked bios and it still does it. Tried the other dvi socket, no luck. Tried a different bios for my motherboard, again no luck.
If the card doesn't switch the monitor off within the first few mins then it will generally be ok for hours of use until the next time I turn on the pc for use.
The card has even done it whilst on my boards bios screen.

Anybody else experiencing this problem? Is my card faulty?

Tried both dvi ports, does same with both

i had a lg monitor that did this sort of thing, it was the monitor on its way out, it came to a point whether the monitor would switch on or not

my monitor and cable is the only thing I haven't tested yet, figured the monitor would be ok cos it's relatively new. Will try my girlfriends monitor tomorrow.

sorry to be Mr obvious but you have checked your power options in win 7 yeah........
