As per title. Running ye olde MSI Gaming 5, i7-4790k and 32GB of DDR3. I'd really like to leave this behind and don't want to buy blind. Can you guys advise on the strongest possible upgrade around that budget? :)

Gaming, movies and video editing. Would be carrying my 3060Ti and 1000W Super Flower PSU over alongside 40TB of storage. Just need the core components refreshed as mine are from 2014 now.

Thanks, guys. Leaning towards Micky's suggestion as it's MSI and Intel again and they've served me well on the current rig. If there's any room for mass improvement for another £50 to £100 then I'm all ears, but happy to go with what's already here if it's the best in the range for budget. Would DDR5 RAM not be a wiser move over 4 if there's a board in price range with it or is it an expense for no gains?

^Thanks for the DDR5 build. I take it the 'k' variant of that CPU will slot right in all the same? Feels worth the outlay to give it longer legs. Being able to push my 4790k past 5Ghz all these years was quite handy.

Regarding the 13700f, any special considerations regarding the cooler? Is air okay or even a smaller AIO like a Corsair H80 (which I currently have)? I read a review on the k variant being ridiculously power-consuming and struggling to stay under 100c at load even on some water options. Don't fancy having to de-lid and apply liquid metal which I had to do with the 4790k back in the day as that was hitting 100c out the box because of pathetic heat transfer paste material inside.

That price point is incredible! Well it was until I saw the $40 has become £80, but still okay!

:)

I'll shop around to get it down.
