Hey All,

It's time to upgrade my ageing gaming rig, I have around £600 (I can go over a little if its worth it) to spend on MOBO/CPU/RAM/GFX, the other parts I already have.

My current setup is as follows:

Motherboard: MSI P6N SLi
CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6750
RAM: 6GB Generic DDR2
Graphics: 2 x 8800 GTS 512

Anyone interested in speccing me some new kit? I was thinking of something like the following:

Motherboard: Asus X58 Sabertooth
CPU: Intel Core i5 650 3.20GHz
RAM: Not sure?
Graphics: Gainward GeForce GTX 470 "GOOD Edition"

That comes to around £485 without the RAM.

Also worth mentioning is I wont be OC'ing this build.

Will I see decent improvements in games compared with what I currently have?

Thanks in advance

you wont be overclocking, so that means i5 760 is what you want.

and that motherboard will do sli/crossfire for added UMMPHHHHHHHHHH

Aha thanks! And would the i7 be worth it over an i5 and correct motherboard?

answered that above, but heres a comparison - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/47?vs=191

but heres a correct i7 spec.

Another quick question on the above.

Someone else has mentioned that it might be worth spending the money on just 2 x new GPU's for now as for gaming there isn't a massive difference between the C2D and i7.

Can anyone shed any light?

Cheers!

That's the prob, its a Corsair 520w so a little low for 2 x cards? though it runs these 2 x 8800's fine.

should be ok for two GTX460's, the cards will also come with molex to pci-e power adaptors, so if the PSU only has two your still ok.
