64GB Patriot Viper Steel DDR4-3600 - Help?

I recently purchased 64GB Patriot Viper Steel DDR4-3600 from OCUK.

The RAM XMP states it can run at 3600MHz, however, I can't get my system to POST beyond 3400MHz (stable at 3200Mhz). I have not played with the timings (all auto), but have tried increasing the Memory voltage to 1.45v (no success).

I have successfully set my fabric at 1800MHz (stable), which I believe points to the RAM as the main issue.

Thoughts? Is the issue my RAM? Should I RMA if it does not meet the stated specification? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

My full specification can be found below.

MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk WiFi
AMD Ryzen 9 3950X
Noctua NH-D15
64GB Patriot Viper Steel DDR4-3600
1TB Samsung 980 Pro M.2 PCI-e 4.0 NVMe SSD
PNY GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB XLR8 Gaming Overclocked Edition
EVGA SuperNova P2 1000W ‘80 Plus Platinum’ PSU

Anyone else using the 64GB kit (2x sticks) with X570? Interested to understand if you could hit XMP out of the box.

Send the vipers back and buy these CMK64GX4M2D3600C18 the vipers will not work correctly on that motherboard, had same issues at work with that motherboard and ram combination, the fix was the ram below (corsair) and worked right away at XMP 3600mhz. Some issue with the viper and that motherboard, nothing will make them work at 3600mhz.

Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 64GB (2x32GB) 3600MHz DDR4 Dual Channel Memory Kit, AMD Ryzen Optimised

64GB (2x32GB) Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX Black, PC4-28800 (3600), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 18-22-22-42, XMP 2.0, 1.35V

The viper steel 3600 seems to hate AMD. I had to return mine as it wouldnt run at rated speeds on B550+5800x.
You can get much better timings with a Crucial equivalent at the same price often cheaper.

Thanks all! Appreciate the feedback.

I've purchased the Corsair and started the RMA process with OCUK regarding the Patriot. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the assist.

Mine runs at XMP out the box.. but the ram in question may be out of most people's budget. i'm running GSkill Trident Z Royal F4-3600C16D-64GTRS on a Asus CH8 Impact mobo

Thought it was just me... brand new Aorus 570, 5800X, BIOS F33c and 4 sticks of Steel Viper 16gb for a 64gb total. While I can get the PC to boot at 3600, the nvidia display manager constantly crashes. Same at 3400, so I'm sitting at the slower default speeds of 2600 instead.

Looks like I'll be returning them then :(

I had the same issue with mine, which is a shame as I wanted the option to go up to 128GB. I am running a 5900x and MSI Unify.

I sent mine back and got some LPX, working fine at 3600.

Good to know, think I'll RMA them then :(

Sitting working fine at 3200 now, it seems stable there - but it would be nice if it ran at the rated speed.

I have another thread on here (albeit on Intel) with the same RAM and it won't work at rated speeds or timings either. I'm starting to wonder about the viper steel series to be perfectly honest!

Still getting USB/NIC disconnects randomly. Starting to wonder if in fact it's my board at fault. PITA this is, really can't be bothered doing the whole diagnosis thing these days !

My 32gb Patriot Viper kit also does not run at the rated 3600mhz speed.

Spent hours messing with voltages and settings, but 3400mhz is the highest it will go without becoming unstable.

I checked the approved ram list for my Asus Tuf Gaming X570 plus before buying and found it was on there, so no real idea why it causes such problems.

No fix as far as I'm aware, I swapped it for a crucial kit and have been stable for months.

That kit was also approved on my asus b550-f board.

The 4000 and faster kits use Samsung B-die and are great quality, however, the slower sticks (< 4000) use lower quality Hynix chips.
