660ti or 7950

Wow so if I have read correctly what rexton linked if all three were over locked (660ti,670 and a 7950) the 7950 will compete with the 670? And that's in bf3? I thought nvidia cards perform better in bf3 lol.

I don't play BF3 but it seems that the most recent AMD drivers have increased BF3 performance quite a bit.

Nvidia cards used to peform better but AMD released new drivers that gave a peformance boost in BF3.

Baring in mind that's a very extreme overclock on all of the cards, but yes the 7950 holds its own against the 670.

I wouldn't buy a 660Ti in the UK...they are WAY overpriced than they should be (comparing to US). If they were at £220 or less and come with free Borderland 2, then it may be different story.

yeah they are expensive like, but amd are cheap on all fronts even on cpus, ive got just over a week til i get paid, probly just buy which ever is cheapest (one will have to be on offer as there the same at r.r.p)

Spend some time reading reviews then and trying to work out if you want to overclock or not. Then in a weeks time you will be better prepared to make a good decision.

i basically want the best and keeping the option of an overclock is good for when new games etc come out, i might get to the point i want to oc everything as my cpu etc isnt oc'd yet either, but thanks for the advice its really helped

At the clocks in that review then yes they are evenly matched.

However, on the mass majority of 670's the memory will overclock a lot further than what they ran it at on this test and performance scales pretty nicely with a memory overclock so the 670 is probably slightly quicker than this review is showing although the 7950 is still far, far better value for money.

I'm leaning more towards the 7950 with the price and performance ratio :) just that the 660ti is way too overpriced! And the oc potential on the 7950 is nuts just so much more headroom. I might have to leave the green team and join the reds :p (currently using 570 gtx)

For gaming it is Intel all the way. The Intel Core i CPUs they pretty much outperform every AMD CPU in the same price range on gaming performance (when both are using same graphic card). In CPU demanding games like mmos, even the high-end AMD CPU with a heavy overclock would struggle to deliver even half the frame rate of an overclocked i5.

My first 7950 was a factory oc'd Powercolor with a fantastic cooler but miserable overclocking headroom.
Replaced with a MSI 7950 TF3 (rev 1) and it is the nuts :D
