I'm replacing my W800i with a cheaper phone that is compatible with TomTom. I have had a read around and it seems either the Nokia 6630 or SPV C500/550 are ideal.

The 6630 is a Nokia, obviously. I had a 6260 previously and have had many Nokias before that - I really don't like the menus and the general feel of the phone compared to the SE phones I have had of more recent times.

The SPV C500 looks good, but are a lower spec than the 6630 and C550 and most seem to come with a 16mb card, which I would need to spend a bit more upgrading.

The SPV C550 is also an option, but they seem to be a bit more expensive and are also much more ugly.

Any suggestions?

The 6630 has more software available for it, has 3G, has the better camera and syncs with a wider range of products. The C500 is smaller and will sync better with Outlook. The C550 offers everything the C500 offers plus a nicer screen.

It really comes down to personal taste and budget.

6630 every time, the spv just doesn't do the phone functions well enough for my liking.
Its like the spv is a pda with phone features tacked on whereas the 6630 is a phone with pda features tacked on and the 6630 does a much better job of both imo.

I've had both a 6630->6680->N70->N80 and a C500->C550 and wouldn't have a windows mobile phone again I don't think, not sure what WM5 is like though.
Also i've found the 6680 to be pretty much bulletproof, has taken a lot of abuse with no ill effects.
