670, 680, 7950 and 7970 overclocks

So it's a gamble then?
Considering it appears to be a low volume product, this stuttering seems quite prolific.
Why not just get a card that works?

Low volume? What?! Did you not see Gibbo's castle? :p

The card works. A minority of users are having issues with stuttering in certain (what appears to be) older games.

If you have an issue you can always RMA/DSR it anyway... if you don't want to wait for the fix.

Or you can get a similar performing card with the AMD certified "our drivers will make it work proper honest Guv" seal of approval.

This point isn't to say AMD are worse or not (different debate altogether) but that issues are prevalent on both sides.

7950 was great value for money about a month ago. Today I'm not so sure with the 670 about. If it was slightly cheaper (considering its considerable OC headroom) it would be a no brainer.

I was very close to getting the 670 windforce at a little below £340. But then I thought, a decent(windforce) used 7950 at ~£250 is probably the appropriate performance/value for my resolution.

edit:

lol, and then we get this offer for today only

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-098-GI

A new Windforce 7950 @ £300 including 3 games. If only I waited a few days.

Would recommend to others, a great price.

I'm waiting for an MSI 7950 FROZR III to turn up later on today. Going by reviews, it appears to be a real nice piece of kit. Very cool and quiet, overclocks really when overvolted, hopefully up to and beyond 1200mhz @ 1.2v ish, and on offer on TWO for £299.99.
Heres hoping :)

I've also got that card coming, I got the b grade one for £250. I'm hoping for 1250mhz + as I'm going to water cool it, let me know how you get on with yours.

Will do. I tried to go for the sapphire 7950 OC versh that was going for £250 in the B grade section, but the stock level hadn't been updated and was out of stock, so I went for this instead as I'd read some very favourable reviews about it.

What do you mean "TWO for £299.99"?

The 7950 Windforce seems like a steal for £300. Wonder how cool it is compared the insanely cool Sapphire 7950 OC (29 idle/55 load for me) with two fans compared to its three.

The windfarce versh was/ is £40 more than the MSI, plus going by the reviews I read, the performance of the MSI in overclocking, noise and cooling is very good, maybe even better than the gigabyte one. Saying that, it might be the opposite but we'll see when it arrives I can start to have a play with it. Another reason I went MSI is I've currently got a MSI 6850 "storm" installed atm and the silence, overclocking, etc with that is great, so I'm hoping the same can be said of the 7950 :)
