6800 ultra vs 7900gs

is there a massive amount of difference between these cards?
My monitor can handle upto 1600x1200, the 6800 ultra sometimes struggles, would the 7900gs?

It very much depends on the game. The 7900gs, even at stock speeds, is quite a leap up from a 6800ultra, however neither come close to powering EVERY game at MAX settings at 1600x1200.
