6900 vs 5960: Will it make a difference for me?

I'm building a machine for rendering gigapixel panoramas. (More info here.) I have decided on 8 Intel cores and 128GB RAM. The question is 6900 or 5960? I'm posting in this forum because it is overclocking that I have in mind. O/c is not especially important to me because the apps I use make heavy use of multithreading and I'm not interested in games. However, I can't shake the belief that faster=better and I notice that people favour the 5950 on overclocking/poer consumption grounds.

Any opinions gratefully received.

Best read a few reviews on each CPU and see which turned out best.

8 Pack-Binned Core i7 5960X (Socket 2011-3) Processor - 4.5GHz £924

These Intel Core i7 5960X CPU's were speed binned from the highly overclockable J-Batch by Ian "8Pack" Parry and comprise of the top five percent of chips tested. These chips are capable of world record level performance under LN2. Alternatively, they should be bench stable at about 4.6GHz and 24/7 stable around 4.5GHz with custom watercooling.
