69xx pictures and pricing

Those pictures have been round the nets for a few days now and have pretty much been proven fake. It's a pic of a 6870.
Looks very long for a 6870. But the single SLI bridge also seems a bit strange for a supposedly top end card.

edit: The length of these cards may cause real problems for the average case.

I'll see if I can look it up.

Till then, these pictures have been around a lot longer and are likely the real deal.

Those pics are much older and the cards look less finished. The only thing that makes me think the new ones are fake is that the power connectors aren't shown.

Any source for them being pretty much proven fake?

EDIT: As for SLI bridge, may be another indicator, but could be a budget card. That said, custom PCBs seems unlikely right now!

Anyone ever come across the mydrives site before ?

But note that the new cards are generally required to wait until the price before the release of final decisions until the last moment, so here is the exposure of 3,999 yuan, 2,999 yuan looks reasonable, but not rule out the possibility of slight changes.

So it looks like they have not seen the official RRP then, they just think a price of "3,999 yuan, 2,999 yuan looks reasonable" and have a site full of adverts...

Second is based on the Cayman Pro Radeon HD 6950's " The Promise HD6950 DDR5 Gold Edition ", suggested retail price of 2999 yuan, the basic equivalent GeForce GTX 480

An overclocked HD6950 might be able to take a GTX580 ?
I'm not sure about that if the the SP count people are talking about is true.

Where's the source? I just see a page of people's opinions.

I've seen this site post leaks before, but I can't comment on credibility really.

Well that's about about all there is right now, opinions, until they offically launch. I have seen those pics disputed on several forums, and also the recent leaked slides. Even the OP's oroginal source, atiforum.de, doubts them in the last sentence: "in the Crossfire HD 6970 pictured, we can at least doubt as to the authenticity of the images. We keep you posted"

I'm not saying they are fake mind you, just that that fact has been heavily doubted to the point of presumed fake.

have pretty much been proven fake

Fair enough, but the statement above was what I was trying to understand. There's no proof either way to be frank.

Still, interesting developments so close to release now. You would think we'd have a more concrete leak with so many places having seen them (presumably).

Yes, I suppose I should have worded that differently. In my mind they are proven fake, but far from 'proven'. The picture I linked seems more reasonable but it may be just a prototype. It would just shock me to see the 6970 not have 2 crossfire ports, but who knows...

I think the single crossfire connector proves it really compared to the 2 crossfire connectors of this: http://vr-zone.com/articles/amd-radeon-hd-6970-pictures/10240.html

I think they're just 6870s.

That's a compelling argument, it must be said. There's no guarantee they haven't changed it since then though. Those original images were published months and months ago, plus Cayman has already been delayed once for changes to the design. Could this be part of it? We have to wait a week to 'officially' find out.

I hope those pics are real, I really like the backplate. I have a 5870 and would miss that.

Additionally though, the card looks to be the same length as a 6870, where as that other card with the 2 crossfire connectors is definitely longer, you can tell by the card's size relative to its PCI-E connector.
