I didn't even know these were out but has anyone got one, either a 6gb or an 8gb card, and are they compatible with most devices that use micro SD cards?

I put this in the mobile phone section because I'm thinking I might have more success in here, afew of you guys might have one in your phone. But I actually want to use it for my M3 simply DS flash card which I have for my nintendo DS lite.

Anyone used one?

I previously tried a 4gb micro SD card in the M3 simply DS and in my XDA Orbit, but it worked in neither.

Nope it wont work if its a microSD and not a microSDHC device (M3 Simply is microSD; only the CycloDS is microSDHC) - beware of 4GB+ microSDs which dont follow the standard and therefore compatibility isnt confirmed (i.e. might work but only address the first 2GBs)...

AFAIK:

microSD = Native FAT16
microSDHC = Native FAT32

which is why microSD only comes in flavours upto 2GB

microsdhc 6gb cards work in N95's, which makes me happy :D

amazing to think that they are planning 32gb cards, the size of them is shocking!

Whoa !!! Cool, which brand is it? Only had my 2G for a week and i've filled 60% of it already ! :eek:

Re-read what he said - he was referring to a 6GB microSDHC - a 4GB+ microSD may work buts its non-standard so if it does work it may not display the full size or corrupt what you store on it...

For a fact a microSD device will not be able to use a microSDHC card...

Since one of the features to make the standard is FAT32 file system upto 32GB cards will eventually become available :D

My M3 lite works with fat16 and fat32 filesystems - would this mean I could use a 6gb card?
Interesting point - as far as Im aware its more to do what natively it supports rather what you can format it to - since its an artifical standard technically a 4GB+ FAT32 microSD (why its not a microSDHC its anyones guess - licensing/testing/should work but I dont know all the differences between microSD and microSDHC

sandisk :D
was shocked when someone said to try it, apparently the documentation for the n95 states 4gb because that was the biggest that was out at the time, not because of a soft/hard ware restriction :D

cheap as well :]
