My 7200.11 stopped detecting in the BIOS recently and took 500Gb of data with it. It still spins up OK, and certainly sounds fine, but as I say it doesn't detect at all. The PCB on the underside of the drive, which I assume is the controller, looks quite swappable and I was wondering how likely the drive is to work if I swap this for a good one. I'd at least like to see if I could get the data off. Anyone with a dead 7200.11 managed to revive it in this manner?

I currently running windows on an old Deathstar so I may not be able to come back to check this thread for responses ;), but thanks for your help!

I have heard of none. There was one person who got hold of an indentical board but it didn't work. Mine is being RMA'd now. Search the forums and you'll see a couple of threads on this very topic.
