Depends on your eyesight I have the same panel and it's great, I find it's better sending a 1080p signal and letting the TV downscale.
Do you notice much difference say between DVD and HD?
The talk about distances also comes into it, but the most important thing is that as soon as a camera pans on a set detail is lost, thus removing any minute difference between them anyway.
Your panels resolution is 1024x720, lower than 720p. So any 1920x1080 is going to be scaled down. As above, it'll come down to the scalers. If it can take 1080i/p from the BD, it scale directly to 1024x720 and avoid the 1280x720 scaling in the BD player.
Thats wrong!!!!!!
720p is defined as 720 lines.... he has 720 lines!!!!!
Yes, but from my understanding its 1280 across. Where as my plasma is 1024, so some processing has to go on to lose some columns...

Lol, ok call it 16:9 720p. If you select 720p on a device like a SkyHD for instance it'll output 1280x720@50Hz. Its down to those 1.33:1 rectangular pixels, even at higher res some HD is recorded at 1440x1080.
What I was getting at is his panel will still have to process the signal if fed 720p. If the panel scaler can accept a media's higher native 1920x1080 res then it removes one scaling stage.
hehe.
The Kuro's are/were 720p and they are the daddy
