720p HDTV confronted with 1080i signal?

Hi All, i recently took del of a samsung le26r41bd which effectively runs oin 720p mode... now i am getting some stuff etc which run natively @ 1080i, through the component connection..

will this run and be downscaled by the TV DSP? will the screen just go black and it wont be able to take it? can anyone shed any light on this for me, the way 720P HDTV's handle native 1080i signals?

Yes it plays alright it just downsacles the picture. I run 1080p on my DVD player and it plays fine on my LE32T51B
