There should be a few retailers near you that should have one of each screen on display..I say let your own eyes be the judge on this...kidkhaos said:What real diffrence is there on a 40" screen between 720p or 1080p. If you're viewing from 8ft or more, 1080p is a waste. Around 5ft-8ft, 1080p will be awesome![]()
Eliot said:seriously i think all this view distance stuff is a load of crap, it assumes that the quality of the sd source is perfect, i can sky on a lcd has loads of mpeg assocatated blur and artifacts, even if u dont notice the inceased res then u may notice the decrese in stuff like that. and as for the not being able to see the diff between 480p and 720p at like 6 foot on a 23 inch ive been told elsewhere thats a load of crap because i got a high quality hd file and the dvd of the same thing and they were going in though to diff connections on the tv at the same tiem and i was flicking between, it was blatant
So if this is true..Then which company make a 1080p 32" TVSlam62 said:720p on a 32 is ok but already history.

I don't remember seening any 1080p 32" screens in the TV retailers i went to yesterday..And i didn't know that they were already out in 32"..
If this is true...Then i may replace my dell 24" pc monitor with one..
As i think the dell 30" has to high a res for me to keeping upgrading hardware to run games at..
Yes is why i quoted higher up in this thread..That i found a 720p is the best all rounder for now...As a 720p will give a much better sd picture and a very good HD picture.Raider said:I realise that at the moment there is an awkward situation in which we have HD sources but still SD television. You're never going to be able to balance both perfectly,t.

And it's going to be quiet a while before your going be watching over 50% of what you watch in HD..
I seen my boss sony 40w2000 1080p LCD and the sky+ SD picture is pretty crap.
Something i know that i would not be happy watching over the next few years till more HD channels comes out..
Maybe it's just me being fussy and wanting a better picture then what others can put up with....But for me i find SD looks bad enought how it is on a 40"+ display i don't see the point in making look twice as bad by displaying it on a 1080p display..

samsung f71 is 1080p 32inch no?Raider said:Nobody makes a 32" 1080p LCD. There would be no point unless you were viewing at less than 3 feet. The only 1080p LCDs are computer monitors.
The smallest 1080p panel is 37", and even that is too small.
I think there's a lot of confusion about 720p/1080p panels. For an SD source, a 1080p panel will add nothing over a 720p panel. They both upscale to the native resolution but you're severely limited by the poor quality source.
I realise that at the moment there is an awkward situation in which we have HD sources but still SD television. You're never going to be able to balance both perfectly, unless you have a sofa that can move on rails maybe.
I say if you're looking to buy an LCD now, buy the best TV for whatever HD sources you want, at least 40", preferably 46" depending on your room size, and you'll just have to cope with SD sources the best you can until HD is more prominent.
I have only seen SD on a 46" 1080p LCD in a retail shop..So i am not going to give a comment on picture quailty on a shop display..e36Adz said:So normal sky channels and dvds would look 'crap' on a 46" 1080p LCD?
Sorry..I was comparing the sony 1080p LCD with my own pioneer 720p plasma..Which i still feel that my 720p plasma gave me a much better SD picture...Raider said:I really can't agree with this point. From everything i've seen, and from all the responses on the AvForums, the top quality 1080p Sony panels (W2000 and X2000) offer the same or better picture quality than any other top LCD panel.
