7600GS vs 7600GT - Silence or Performance?

I have been eyeing up a new graphics card for ages now, I currently have a Radeon X600 Pro which *just* plays World of Warcraft. My only gripe is that my X600 is passivly cooled so I can leave my PC on overnight. I would like to play some of the more recent games out, and also play BF2 again (stopped playing when my 6800GT blew up...) is the 7600GT *loud* or is it tolerable? And how much better is the GT over the GS?

I doubt the 7600gt is that loud to be honest. I can't give you a definate answer as I don't own one.

The GT as a rough guess is probably 25 - 40% faster than a GS depending on the game and what settings are used.

Just put that new Zalman Vga-cooler on it man.. it doesn't matter. IT's freakin quiet and its cooler than stock. I have the old one the 700cu-led version and it rocks, it looks cool and it it very quiet and cool. the new 900 version looks way better. only gripe is it doesnt have a led version yet...

you can have the best of both worls with a zalman on there.I would go for the faster card and cool it yourself.

Tbh I reckon you could slow down that fan on the 7600 gt and not see that much increase in temps.They run that cool.

your correct

i used the advanced river tuner settings to set the fan to 0 on 2d mode, and it hangs around 50C instead of 48C

so it's silent! and altho the fan is quite loud in 3d mode u don't hear it over the game sounds.
