just wondering how much performance difference will be there between the 7800GS v the 7600GT? (both 256mb and AGP slot)

I am hearing/seeing differing views where the 7600GT easily performs the same or exceeds the 7800GS.

Some benchmarks e.g on tomshardware interactive VGA chart clearly shows that the 7800GS performs better.

heard reports on the forum that the 7800GS simply isnt worth it in comparison to the 7600GT

I ask because the price difference between the two is not that significant.

7600GT - ~140

7800GS - ~160

just wondering if for any additional 20-odd quid, will i see a meaningful increase in performance?

I have pretty much mad up my mind to stick with a 7600GT but just in case i made the wrong decision.

xfx 7600gt agp can be had for £119 inc vat and delivery, and thats the one that comes with 580core 1500ram. id buy that any day over the more expensive 7800gs and pocket the rest of the change.

The 7800GS has more pixel pipelines while the 7600GT has a core clock advantage...also the 7800GS has a 256bit memory interface while the 7600GT has a 128bit.....In the end they perform almost exactly the same.

I can't say how they would compare when both are overclocked.

ok cheers for clearing that up, that kinda makes sense now to me.

err whereabouts is this xfx 7600gt for 120? I have not seen one at that price for an AGP. only PCI-E ones.

how much difference is there between the brands as well?

as the club 3D one looks the cheapest

although I cant remember but I am quite sure I have seen a review of the different brands where leadtek came out tops by a fair bit.

personally, I dont care about the extra stuff (games, software etc) just want best bang for my buck :D

It's not on overclockers, thus we cannot post  .. google it mate, fairly easy to get hold of... and i would definately go for the 76gt anyday (not that im biased :D)

Anyone tried Galaxt 7600GT AGP , quoted as same price inclusive as mentioned for the XFX?

From the picture it seems to have a custom board layout with capacitors to the left on the heatsink, which I'm not sure is good or bad.
