7800 GTX PCI express power connector

Hi

Quick question could someone tell me if the 7800 will run without the 6 pin plug connected?


My enermax PSU unit doesn't have the right connector.


I know you can get adaptors, but I'm only borrowing the card for a short while, and I wanted to try it out tonight.


My friend I borrowed the card from said it would run, just not as fast as when it's connected.

the board is the ASROCK VSTA C2D

it will run but I dont think it will be able to switch to 3d mode for games.

In other words it should operate windows and thats about it.

It will run but really slowly, it'll be like a 4 series at least thats what my 6800 is like without proper power

It's OK, I managed to wire up a 4 pin molex to 6 pin adaptor using an old power supply I had.

I just hooked it up to 1 molex, I see some adaptors have 2x molex going in.

Anyway seems fine, working fast.
