7800GT SLi or Single X1900XT (mayB X) ??

Hi all,

Am just about to ramp up my system with some nice new bits, but wondering what to do with the gfx. I was all set to go with either an X1900XT or maybe an XT-X, but am now thinking for a similar price I might be better with 2x7800GT in SLi.

I'll be getting the Belinea 102035W widescreen 20.1" LCD, and would like to run everything at it's native res, preferably with a little AA/AF.

Rest of the kit I'm looking at getting is an X2 4800 and 2GB PC3200 (to add to the 2GB already in there). Basic OcUK value ram, and went for the 4800 as I don't want to do any overclocking.

Any comments or suggestions appreciated


Btw - Please ignore my sig, haven't updated for ages. The system I'm upgrading has a 3000 Venice in it with an X700 128MB, and was a linux server. Decided to get rid of my XPS Gen 2 and go back to a desktop rig, hence the essential upgrades

I've not looked at too many reviews/benchies yet - if I go for single card it'll prob be the x1900xtx, especially if overclockers prices last til Friday

How does that card cope with around 1600x1050 res, with AA/AF etc ?? The sort of games I'll be running are BF2, CoD2, TRD3, HL2/CSS, X3 etc.

Also maybe a stupid question, but I presume the ATi x64 drivers are decent - I know I'm using them now on the X700, but am hardly pushing the limits with that.

Yeah the 'This Week Only' runs from Thursday to Thursday.

Definately the x1900 though.

Wasn't sure when the "This Week" offers ran until - oh well, just have to see what's around on Friday then.

Will eat anything you can throw at it at that res..1680 * 1050 Maxed out everything & no problems
