hello, im selling my 7800gt tomorrow and buying the Sapphire X1800XT for £187

should i format and reinstall xp to get the best power out of it?

also can anyone give me an idea of how much the x1800 scores in 3dmark06

just uninstall drivers before you take the 7800 out, then reboot with 7800 in and use driver cleaner 3 to clear it out... then turn off, fit x1800 and turn on and install.
 
Well my 512mb x1800 get about 3.5k in 06, thats on a A64 3500+ with everything all at stock. :)

Just do as above before you sell the GT. ;)

Yes its faster than the GT, its faster than the GTX. :)
 
danny what res will u be gaming at?

it depends on the game u are playing also, generally speaking if you are playing at high res the x1800xt is faster....

However there is not much in it between the 7900gtx and the x1800xt in most cases the 7900gtx out performs the x1800xt even at higher res...however the x1900xt is slightly faster....

you could compare the three all day long and there under diff testing scenarios you would have course get diff results...

The nvidias are known to be more quieter, take less power so therefore dont heat up as much...
 
i cant make my mind up between x1800xt or 7900gt, and i need summat quick cos this new tomb raider game is ace but laggy on my current setup
 
looks like the x1800xt then, thanks. will ocuk have a lot in because i wont be able to buy until wednesday??
