7900 prices are now up

Either the X1900XT or the 7900GT?

Only one answer - X1900XT - no matter how fast the GT is, it will not compete with a 512MB XT, I can pretty much guarantee that and it will cost the same roughly.

how do you know seen the benchmarks? owned one of these cards?

the gt comes in a 512mb flavour aswell

Well, because there aren't really any architectural differences for one, so you look at the specs. Then you see the GT is basically a 7800GTX and then you look at ORB/ common knowledge that the X1800XT was faster than a 256MB GTX and about on par with a 7800GTX 512MB after the 6.1 drivers.

The do seem pretty good, although I won't be looking at them (of course I have no need to)

For me though the 7900GT looks a little overpriced. Comparing it to the X1800XT of course which is available for less.

Will be nice to see some benchmarks.

I think we are going to see the same thing as before where the nvidia card will be faster in pure speed benches but slower when AA and AF are added into the mix (either that or it will take a greater hit)

Bear in mind how expensive the X1800's and X1900's were for a few weeks after their release. Their prices crashed after about a fort night.

DX10 compatible? or am i being daft?

Ouch they are overpriced :(

Hopefully prices will fall after a fortnight or two since you can get a 512MB X1800XT at the same price as the cheapest 7900GT, and they will probably perform similiarly if the lack of RAM in the GT isn't a bottleneck. Also, the XFX GeForce 7900 GT XXX Edition is about the same price as a X1900XT but the XT will probably a little faster and has more RAM, better IQ and better futureproof product :(

Can someone confirm that the 7600GT has a 256 bit memory bus? It seems a bit mismatched giving a 12 'pipe' card more bandwidth than a 24 'pipe'...

I would have thought though that if the cheapest 7900 overclocks to GTX speeds then you have serious bang for buck.

looking at the cards there are quite a few with differing clock speeds and they are probably the same card

take the XFX GeForce 7900 GT running at 450MHz/ 1320MHz
and the XFX GeForce 7900 GT XXX Edition 560MHZ/ 1650MHz

if the XFX 7900 GT standard clocks to 560/1650 this will have faster memory than the XFX GTX and if the core clocks higher too then you have serious bank for buck.

so will have to see how they overclock. :)

Agreed, it looks like a volt mod and an after market cooler would give nice bang for the buck one the prices have stablised to the norm.

Hmmm I was thinking that. The 7600gt's memory bandwidth figures are out even it it did have a 256bit memory interface.

thats what iam wondering not only that i had an email from xfx saying that the new range of 7800s are built for vista? does that mean it supports dx10?

Agreed wap a zalman on there with some heatsinks and I reckon you have some serious overclockabilty.

the chips on the 7900gt and gtx are bound to be totally different i'd have thought so they could save costs.
