7900 prices are now up

the chips on the 7900gt and gtx are bound to be totally different i'd have thought so they could save costs.

They are the same core, but the foundry can probably produce 7900GTs by the bucketload compared to the GTX varient, so that's where costs can be saved. I would also imagine the GTX has a bit more vcore since it has a far far larger cooler.

Strange that most of the 7900GTX512s have less memory bandwidth than the 7800GTX512s in the 51GBs range. Exception being the XFX7900GTX512 extreme edition @ 60Gbs ish.

Not very happy with Nvidia @ the moment as they obviously stitched up the 7800GTX512 pricing in Jan when they can suddenly sell 7900GTX512 for up to £150 cheaper in the space of 4 weeks!!

Think my next card will be anything but Nvidias!

point being?

Sorry, didnt mean to post that. I was going to agree with you that with a bit of an overclock you could probably reach that speed.

look at this though, true they only have 12 pipelines compared with 24 for the 7900's.

- GeForce 7600 GT Core running at 590MHz
- 256MB GDDR3 Extreme Memory running at 1800MHz

Better value than a 6800 GS

But half the pipes of the 7900 series. That's where performance is killed.

Certainly better than a 6800GS though :).

I would love one of those GTs if they had 512mb of memory.
So it'll probably be a X1900 XT for me as the GTX is a bit pricey :(

I read somewhere they are releasing a 7900 GT with 512mb in the future not to sure how true that is because this may harm GTX sales

OcUK have one listed with 512MB  EDIT - no they don't smids you idiot.

@ ben_j_davis - sorry, no idea...but we will know in the next week but it does look likely - think 6600GT SLi vs 6800GT.

Seriously thinking of selling my 7800GT to get a 7900GT unless i can pick up another 7800GT for about £130

I would sell your 7800 GT but it depends on how much you would get for it.
