Interesting that you should mention the NVIDIA "dip and dive". I found that mine would "stutter" (very slightly) at certain points in the game.

I've not noticed this at all since I moved to the 1900xtx

Anyway I'm getting sick of repeating myself. Bear in mind if the 7800 512mb was in stock in january I would have one of those now instead of this x1900, I just can't stand people talking complete crap on here like its gospel truth.

The fact remains that xfire is the inferior option.
I don't take GFX card manufacturers seriously.I'm simply discussing GFX in a GFX card forum.
 
In terms of image quality, remember that screen shots only show a single image. Maybe the ATI cards handle the transition from image to image slightly better?
I also though that the IQ in HL2 was better from ATI - but you could only really tell because they zoomed in. During game play I doubt you would notice it :p IQ is always going to be a sticking point cos just like the 60fps thing - its all personal preference. I own the X1800 and Ive played on my mates machine which has a 7800GTX and I prefer the look I get on my monitor and he agrees with me. A lot of people would say there is no difference and no doubt quite a few would say the nvidia one is better. I dont think there is a clear winner... but again - imo - the ATI does just look better.
Also you cant use the "well the X1900 has been out longer thus its cheaper" - thats ATIs earnt advantage. They got the product out on time and this is their reward. No doubt you were one of the people arguing the same point (but this time from nvidia's angle) when the belated X1800 came along as was slightly more expencive and gave similar performance to the 7800 range.

Yup, this here is popping up all over now, the supported driver it talks about will be the 6.5's beginning of May so ive heard, im very interested in this, supposedly getting announced after CeBit. :)

it gets filtered because mentioning of it is not allowed i'm afraid
 
Don't forget, those screenies, I'll bet my mortgage (any takers, lol) that you're more likely to see any differences, if any, if viewing the screen/s actually in front of them, not posted on a forum. I saw a screenie posted here a few days ago of far cry using an nvidia card and it certainly looked "different", a lot darker than I'm used to, not really better or worse, BUT I prefer the look of ati's IQ from what I've seen.
 
Tbh i could'nt give a stuff about the IQ, if i was gaming i wouldn't be standing about looking at walls and stuff going, 'oh look at that wall, looks a bit bland that', or 'hmm that tree dont look right', 'oh look im getting my ass blown off cos im just standing about like a tit looking at the scenery saying, bah that looks better on so, and so card'. :D

'Oh look that guys just lobbed a grenade, ill just have quick look at this wall before i die see what the IQ's like, **** to late'. :D

When online in BF2 or summit, yer team mates, 'come on were just about to take this post', and you say '**** that have you seen the state of this tree, and this roof over here'. :D

Getting in a tank you as driver, yer team mate ' What yer doing, theres a heli above launching rockets wtf were not moving for GO GO GO NOW', you say 'because im checking out the IQ on this foliage yer muppet, have a look what you rekon, not that good is it' BOOM!!!!!. :D
