I'm not sure if I've mounted mine that well. On the lowest fan speed setting I'm getting about 57*C at idle :(

What are you guys getting?

Cheers,

Suman

I'd be interested too. Although with the ambient temps increasing you're going to have to take into account some additional degrees.

Running on stock, I get around the 53 idle mark to around 75 load. I'm sure the driver for XP x64 still needs some work though.

Cheers, Paul.

single 7900GT running with a VF900 here was idle about 36 degrees , but in this warm weather add say another 3-5 degrees on top of that. This was with lowest fan speed btw.

Mine was idling at around 40 last week, not getting much hotter on load.
This week with this damned heat its idling at 45 and going past 50 on load... (not sure how far, havent checked)

I would say you have not put it on correctly with that temp, unless you are in a very hot area.

Not so much an issue as just odd occurances.

Tempwise, coming from a 7800GS perspective (which ran between the 40/60 mark) it runs hot, i.e. I expect between 40 - 60, where as I get 50 - 75 (not overly bad I know).

Driverwise, well, Games seem to run pefectly fine, no tearing or artifacts etc, but some demos, eg. nvidia etc on occasion run pretty much horrendously. Luna for example, starts off less than 3/4FPS but then ramps up.

when starting rthdribl, it runs fine, between 150/180fps but every 3/4 seconds it will drop for an instance between 60/100 (if I run full screen, no problem).

Trivial I know but I wish it could be explained.

Getting back on topic, vga cooling :) any preference over the VF900 or FS-V7 (fatal1ty)?

Cheers, Paul.

VF900 without a doubt. The fatality is a vf700 with a noisy/faster fan and an led. VF900 is much better

Just a thought, I have a PCI card directly beneath the cooler. Could this be blocking off airflow and affecting the temps? Surely not to the tune of 20*C though :(

Cheers,

Suman

Its possible, but unlikly. How much of a clearance is there?
Also what is the airflow in your case like and the Case Temps?

As a VF900 user, the temps dont rise much at full load as apposed to idle, mine is say 5-7 degrees max extra during gaming, and less than that when it isnt so bloody hot outside and in.

Don't have a pic of this setup, but with my X800 XL and VF-700 I had this much clearance:

Case airflow; one 120mm intake and one 120mm outake both at 5V. CPU is idling at about 39*C atm... Opty 146 with 1.45V.

And GPU load temps are about 73*C for me right now :p so slightly more than 5-7*C rise! :(

Cheers,

Suman

lol I moved the Audigy out of the way and the temps dropped 10*C! Similar ambient temp and it's idling at 45*C now, will check what it is at load.

[edit] But i have no sound now :p

Cheers,

Suman

On a similar note, I just slung a vf900 on my 7900gt.

On startup, it idles at around the 40/41 mark, on load between 48/52 depending on game/demo. it then drops to around the 45 idle mark.

On a worrying note, it will now not OC at all well. running at stock speeds it's fine, as soon as I increase, even by a little, it artifacts quite horrifically.

Prior to the vf900 I was running happily at 550/800.

*big hmmmm*

The real difference when OC'ed was minimal but,, oh well, ho hum :) It still works and it's cooler right?

Cheers, Paul

EDIT - I did notice when placing the vf900 on the card, that the back springs really did not well, work at all well, I literally ended up tightening almost flushly. I was craeful not to over tighten. I may very well of damaged the core, but did anyone else notice the secure srpings not really working?

Also, when I had a card running in the bottom slot with Audigy, allthough I managed to get in both 7800Gts and the Audigy, because the Audigy was so close, it made a LOT more noise than the top card..

Mine idle at about 44-48C at the moment (fan on full) and they hit 60C under load. The higher of the two cards runs a fair bit hotter generally though because of convection and a lack of airflow I suppose. I'm currenty running them at 530/1600. I'm not sure what case temps will be as I've been running with the side off since about mid-may due to the heat.

Try the case fans at 12v and see if big decrease in case temps (should lower cpu and gfx temps also)
