I guess there many people today senting out an e-mail something like this one below to all there friends..

"Hi mate..

Have got a fiver or tenner you can lent me by paypal please"

Well let's be honest - there's hardly any good PC games out at the moment. Why not wait until some good games actually appear? That might justify the price of the card somewhat.

Yes I realise a few people aren't going to share this opinion, but nobody can dispute the fact that the last few months has been dire for good PC games.

These cards aren't for games..Most people buy them only for benchmarking..

Seems you're right. I only ever see FEAR, Quake 4, Half-Life 2, Far Cry and the usual others benchmarked. The real gamers completed those months ago.

What a total load of rubbish, im sorry but that is not true at all, very few people buy them just for benching alone.

sell your rig then, you don't need it any more if you have completed the games you play.

Well I don't really play PC games because of the previously mentioned reasons so selling my rig would be stupid because I use it for other things.

Regardless, there's little point in selling my 7800 GTX on as I'd probably only get around £100 for it anyway and it'd cost me £40 or so for another crappy card - not worth it for £60 profit.

Anyway, let's not turn this into something it's not meant to be. My simple opinion on the thread starter's question is that no, it's not worth it because of the current state of PC games; unless you're happy playing the same old games.

I think you hit the nail on the head there mate. Infact I've just sold my RAM, motherboard, CPU, Sound, and Gfx card. ATM I'm using the download box for browsing and email, it consists of a AMD 1700+ Palomino (toasty :D ) 512MB OCuk value, and a FX5200. Gonna buy a Kentsfield/DX10 rig sometime in Febuary, which is when the games I'm intrested in will be released.

Edit - Palomino :p

BF2, 1600x1200 everything on max.
I wont have to put TOO much towards it money wise.
C&C 3 when it comes out.

Depends what framerates your getting in BF2 at 16x12 with everything maxed, if your struggling, or its unplayable at that, then go for it. ;)

I can't see it being that though otherwise you wouldn't be using those settings.

anything lower than 'insane number of fps' is too low imo :p

How do I show my FPS on BF2 then?

My current system is

Conroe 2.4ghz @ 2.6ghz
2GB Corsair DDR2
XFX 7900GTX
Asus P5 WH Motherboard
Jeantech 700W Storm PSU.

My personal view from the benchmarks, is the 8800GTX doesnt warrant the extra price, if your not gaming ABOVE 1600x1200...

Whereas AT 1600x1200 the GTS falls into best price/performance...

I don't plan to upgrade monitor anytime soon, so looks like GTS time :D
