DUAL graphics cards from Nvidia are delayed for a week. We know that the cards are shaping up and you can expect loads of reviews just before the Computex show in Taiwan.

Nvidia wants to time its launch with the big trade show that starts next Tuesday in old Taipei and as always to polish up the drivers as well.

ATI will have a big problem with this one as the suggested retail price is a rather reasonable $599 for the dual G71 card. We are certain that this card will outperform the currently top Geforce 7900 GTX and Radeon X1900 XTX cards. Two chips will do things faster then a single one.

We also beleive that Nvidia plans a massive price drop for its current top end 7900 GTX cards to make some space for the new Geforce 7950 GX2 cards.

Those cards are much shorter and will fit in most computer cases and, even better, they will work in every single SLI compatible board. Expect to see a lot about them by next Monday or Tuesday. µ

I think all those with 7900gtx should start selling:P

Hi there

Some facts!

7950 GX2 is in stock now at OcUK! :D
You will be able to by 7950 GX2's from OcUK at approx 14:00 on Monday 5th June 2006 with prices starting from £349.95+VAT for BFG, Gainward, Leadtek and XFX with all models in stock. :)

Performance wise the 7950GX2 is extremely fast! One card scores 9500 3D Mark points in 3D Mark 2006 and 16,000 3D Mark 2005 points with an FX62 processor. They also run completely silent even when underload.

7900 GTX cards are not dropping in price, the lineup will be:-
7600 GT from £99 +VAT
7900 GT from £149 +VAT
7900 GTX from £249 +VAT
7950 GX2 from £349 +VAT

OcUK is already at the above prices, it just some other Etailors out there may need to catch up as OcUK is consistantly has the best pricing on graphics and is always first to market. :)

To use a GX2 you will need an SLi motherboard as essentially they are two 7900's sandwiched together but done properly and they work extremely well, in fact they work great.

Quad SLi will not be functional on 7950's until NVIDIA enable it in the drivers which may not happen for some time. Also to use Quad SLi you need a Dual Lane 16x compatible motherboard.

Gibbo can you confirm that you do not need an SLI motherboard to run one card?

From looking at the technology I'd say an SLi board of some description would be needed but I maybe wrong as if NVIDIA may have found a solution to them not needing SLi boards. But to be frank you can get SLi boards for as little as £40 ish these days so its no major boo boo.

i think the 7900gtx will be hit hard.
That s because all the owners of single 7900gtx will be mad to buy a second one and sli them when you can buy a "slied" 7900gtx for only 100 more.

Correct, this is great though for the future.. :)

Its a shame they aint in stock though, id love to have seen if anyone bought one instead of the 7950 GX2. :D

Would be a classic to see! Throwing money away due to the fact of "512mb" and thinking more exspensive = better

hahah :p

I think nvidia will drop 7900gtx price. That s because if it did,ati will have no model to compete, either with 7900gtx or 7950gx2.
It would dominate 99% of the high end and 80%(7900gt) of the mid-high range.

Ive just ordered a 7900gt, and its arriving on monday, do overclockers have a price promise if the price drops for something you buy within so many days?

Will there be similar driver problems and bug in games like SLI currently suffers from sometimes?

or will it act as one really fast card?

i would also like to know this

On smallish price drops no. But if there is a huge dramatic price drop and its within 5-7 days then we will normally sort customers out.

thanks gibbo, good to know:)

ATI need to bring something out to compete with this. As said all Nvidia has to do is drop the price of the 7900GTX even further and ATI would have nothing to compete with (im not a fanboy by the way). Who in there right mind now is going to buy the GTX rather than the GX2

What happens if the game does not support sli for some reason..say no profile or you cannot create one. I believe NFS most wanted, Fear and a few others were like this for some time. Does that mean your 7950gtx (which seems to be 2x7900gt's, 7900gtx's with lower clocks, or 7900gtx mobile depending on who you believe) will now perform with just 1 gpu ??
