7970 Arctic Accelero will fit 290x Reference board

OK so I took the first photo and layered the two PCB's on top of each other. I resized the photo's so the PCI connector was the same size and voila, the GPU mounting holes line up. Now the chip height may be different, so some some spacers may need to be made, but in principle the 7970 Arctic Accelero will fit on the new Hawaii AMD reference boards

There is no way I am going back to a centrifugal style fan !

In principle it will fit, but I imagine there is going to be exposed parts of the 290 core not getting full contact with the 7970 AC plate.

Damn you are right (they have turned the chip 45 degrees relative to the 7970.)

I installed the accelero turbo 2 on my GTX 480 and frankly it was the most stressful thing ive done. the card was bent so much i personally wouldnt want to go through that ever again! i'd rather buy a Direct CU or twin frozer or whatever cooler that OEMs use (not the standard card one, that thing sucks)

I found it fine to fit, and the performance is awesome.
