Would you say my cards are to close together on my board and that this might cause overheating issues? OR would you say it's ok. The board is meant to support Xfire and its a full size ATX board...

There's a comfortable amount of space there. The top one will probably run a bit warmer, which might limit overclocking, but there's easily enough space there to avoid any real overheating problems. Especially since that cooler looks pretty powerful.

I have seen much closer without issue. It would be good if you have a side case fan blowing onto the GPUs. This will help keep them a little cooler :)

Alright thanks. I did have a soundcard that was blocking one of the fans in the lower card. So i've removed that as that was obviously causing some issues. But just means no sound lol.

What cards are they and which type of cooler do they use? Ive found that reference design cards work a lot better for sli/xfire when board spacing is tight.

My old 5870's were literally sitting in direct contact with each other. The top card run much hotter than the bottom obviously, but it never caused any problems. Probably hurt the lifespan of the top card I would imagine. Managed to wedge a plastic spacer in between both cards which gave a 5-6 mm clearance which let some air circulate which helped a wee bit...

But to answer you, your setup looks perfectly acceptable. The top card might run a few degrees hotter, which as has been said may hinder the overclocking potential but tbh 2 7970's running at stock/ or anything over 1Ghz will be plenty fast enough for anything but the most extreme of set ups.

Every bridge that comes in the box is tiny, this is why i thought this, ive never been SLI or CF before.

And the the dualcards ive had GTX 7950gx2 and the 9800gx2 were bad cards, im sure its much better now but i had so many problems!
