Hi,

England won (just), so it's time to go PCI-Express. I'm currently running an 800xt PE AGP but need a new 939 motherboard, so it's time to update the graphics card too.

The 800xt PE AGP (remember that bargain from here last year?) runs very nicely and pretty quietly with the ATI Tool utility. I like the look of the HIS 1800 GTO with ICEQ3 (update-able to an 1800 XL it seems..), but there's a Connect 3D 1800XT for £164 (£140 for the HIS). Is the performance difference worth it? Does anyone know about the noise compared to my 800xt PE and HIS 1800 GTO/ICEQ3?

Defiantely worth it, went from an x800 XT PE here to an x1800 XT 512mb, absolutely blown away by the performance increase, and at that price its a steal. :)

The noise varies, some ppl say they are loud, some say they aint, mine certainly isnt, only picks up a tad from its 2D windows speed here, and only goes to about 71 underload, i think they must have to get into the high 80's for them to really pick up.

How does the noise compare to your old 800XT PE? The 1800XT looks nice but I'm def tempted by the iceq3 system..
