850 pro bottlenecking against 860 evo ssd

So I am using steam spreader to move a game as there isnt enough free space on the 850 pro for the new 60 gig DLC.

I was expecting to max out the sata interface but its going at about 200mB/sec.

Active time for the devices is about 95-100% for the 850 pro, and about 22% for the 860 evo, so the TLC is having an easier time doing the writes than the MLC doing the reads, granted its going to SLC cache but its still surprising.

I wonder if the 850 pro suffers with slowdowns from data that hasnt been refreshed a while.

I will probably try to copy the data back after to see if the same bottleneck appears on the 860 evo.

It should be almost a sequential write so I can’t see any reason the 850Pro should be struggling. Is it almost full? Have you checked Samsung Magician to see what SATA speed it’s running at?

its SATA3 and benches at full speed.

I am curious if I maybe misunderstood SATA contention, is it because the 2 drives share the capacity so this speed is expected, or is as you said a clear problem?

The drive itself taking over provision into account is about 70% full.
