850w Power Supply - Do I Need to Calm Down?!

Anyways, I have an 850W so I think I'm safe with that, rather have a bit too much than not enough.

anything above 850W is for tri-fire, 1200W for quad-fire, SLI equivalent. Nothing any sensible rig would require.

Power the case on whilst the PSU is switched off, I believe?

Using the calculator takes into account more than just the number of GPU's though, i.e. OC, number of HDD's, SSD's other PCIe cards, etc etc.

I was swaying to an Enermax 87+ 850w PSU but couldn't seem to find one at a decent price and strangely couldn't find anywhere that was selling it with the 5yr vendor warranty that is stated on Enermax's website.

I'm now 80% decided on the AX850. The comparatively low price, 7 years warranty, the fact that it is fully modular, a bunch of very good reviews, comments on Corsairs customer service, reports of it's quietness and such like have really pushed me towards this card.

Thanks again and I'll let you know if I change my mind, again!

The calculator has it's origins when PSU didn't produce most of their output on the +12 V line. So it's covering all bases for the old or **** PSUs available, for example a PSU might be 850 W on the box, but could be under 500 W for +12 V output.

If you pay for the pro version I believe it shows you the +12 V required which might be more accurate.
