I've seen in many places that the 8700k's sweet spot for RAM is 32gb 3200mhz CL14. I have exactly that but the CL16 latency instead.

Is there any real-world difference between the two latencies and if so, how much? Cheers

I've looked in to this myself and I also have 3200 Corsair RGB Ram 16GB DDR4 , Technically speaking you will get maybe 5 / 10 extra FPS in games! nothing massive.......... More ram will speed up times in Photoshop or when encoding Videos.... hope this helps.

I was hoping for more and I'm thinking in new games coming in 2018 it will take advantage , but yes currently just a little gain but hey still better than nothing, I do think people are mad for spending £300 on the 3000mhz Ram thou when you really don't need it that fast.

Have you tried changing the timing on your ram if its standard timings are CAS 16-18-18-36 try 14-16-16-32 to get started

I haven't tried that nope, sounds like I could give it a go though! Never tinkered with RAM settings in the bios before though, besides enabling XMP

if you have 3200 cl16 ram already id hold on to it, ive just upgraded my ram last week to 3200CL14.. I did have 3600 CL16 but that was 16gb set 2x8 this is 2x16gb so its harder to get good clocks in 32gb kits unless you spend £400 lol.

ultimately 3200 CL16 is on the low end but should do just fine.

In my testing 3600Mhz c16 was the sweet spot. I benched this for my BS thread where you can check results.
