880+880Ti to be cheaper than current gen ! :D

I'd be surprised if the GTX880 isn't just the 770 successor, there is very little reason to believe a 550mm^2 core at 20nm won't cost significantly more than a 28nm core of the same size.

AS such it should be cheaper, but will they once again bridge the gap between the last gen midrange/high end and try and increase prices, then bring out a true 780ti successor that costs more than the current ones? We'll see.

EDIT:- there is also the possibility they make another big core on 28nm, which due to yields/tweaking for a very mature process should indeed be able to be sold cheaper but... seems a bit of a daft step to take right now. the 28-20nm switch makes everything difficult. If GM104 came at 28nm that could also be cheaper than current GK104's, cheaper to make, not sure Nvidia would sell them cheaper than a 770.

If this is true this is good for the AMD guys as well. No matter how cheap or how fast the new Nvidia card is, you can be sure the AMD card will be roughly as fast but come in much cheaper. Win win for all. :)

they are always priced as high as they can get away with, so yeh i agree with jokester cheaper to make maybe but wont be passed on to us unless competition forces them to keep it lower ><

your best hope for lower prices is amd's cards being fast :)

I believe you'll be right. They'll go with a ~300mm2 chip first then a second generation chip at ~500mm2 12-18months later. No point blowing your real estate budget immediately then only being able to scrabble around for 5-10% improvements through design efficiency gains over the next 2-3 years till the next die shrink happens.

Louder and hotter? You ever heard of aftermarket cooling like msi Twin Frozr or any other manufacturers cooler.

I can tell you now my two are very quite and stay below 80c very cool.
Reliable what the hell? I not had one game crash on me.

There that Mantle joke again lol
