8800 Fan Question

Hi guys, for the fan startup sequence when booting the PC (not the 8800GT) is it right that it twitches slightly and then a second later starts as normal and spins?

I seem to remember it used to spin up to a high rpm for a second during bootup and then back to normal, am i going mad?
