8800 gts to moniter size

yes, the 320MB version is really aimed at 1280x1024, but it will drive 1680x1050. You really would not be able to apply much, if any, AA and you have to keep in mind how future proof that amount of frame buffer(memory) will be.

I would advise sitting tight and seeing what ATI's complete R6xx range is like before making a decision now.
 
Sorry to hijack the thread but, would my 8800GTX be ok with 1680x1050? Im thinking of buying a Samsung SM-226BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor.

I run a GTX with 1920x1200 and generally can put everything to the max with 4xAA (8/16xCSAA) with 16xAF and get a good solid 60fps.

The GTX will destroy 1680x1050, so you have no worries with that res.
