Im thinking about getting one of these cards my first question about my mobo running it has been answered, but i'd like to know how much my other components will make a difference, 1st off im running 2GB ram with a dual core 4600 athlon, audigy plat 2, and 200gig sata hdd on a 550watt psu, will the psu be ok with the other components currently installed and would the cpu prove to be to much of a bottleneck to not warrant buying the card?

The PSU's wattage will certainly be OK, though please post back and tell me how many Amps it has @ +12V. This will be stated on the side of the PSU itsself.

Your other components will all be fine, BTW. Anyone who uses the word "bottlenecking" or similar when talking about computers is almost definitely a moron anyway. :)

I be running my 8800gtx with a daul core AMD 4400 x2 cpu and 2gb of ram....
I ordered my 8800gtx from overclockers two days ago,

(Am hoping to receive it today.)

X2 3800, 2GB GeiL, 6800GS here atm. I ought to pick up a 320MB 8800GTS tbh.

I only brought the 8800gtx because my x1900xt-x died....I really didn't want to upgrade just yet...my x1900xt-x was handling everything just fine till it died.....

I had to use all the money i saved for a HTPC i wanted to built to go on my AV rack :(

Hoping to get an 8800GTX this weekend :D Just hope my Tagan 530W is up to it
Should be.

Again, I am jealous. I should seriously stop drinking for long enough to get £200 together. :)

Good - I was a bit worried about not having enough power. I definitely can't ask the boss err I mean wife for a new PSU as well :p Well not for a couple of months anyway :D

You need to resist the call of the beer monster that is stealing your dosh ;)

Masslac I wouldn't dismiss bottlenecking as a valid term.

Take for example a P4 2Ghz low end CPU. Throw in HL2: Lost Coast or another high end benchmark.

A 8800GTX will give almost the exact same FPS as a 7800GT would because somewhere around 90-100FPS they will start getting limited by the CPU.

In this example the CPU is bottlenecking the system. CPUs still give a large performance increase in games. I went from a P4 3Ghz to a E6300 @ 2Ghz with the same system specs apart from that and I noticed atleast a 10% increase in performance especially in oblivion and cpu hog games like Med2:TW.

I suppose what I meant to say is that that particular word is very much overused. :)

Ok firstly its a 500 watt psu not 550  my mistake, and the +12v output is min 0.5A and max 18A, so i guess the answers might be different as i got the wattage wrong.

Oh and my wife thinks im a moron so i cant argue my corner atm :D

Gotcha and yes I agree it's used a lot!

18A is what's needed for the 8800GTX, you should be okay.
