A bloke in work has offered me an evga 8800gt for 40 pounds
I think I'm going to ge
t it an use it as a physx card along side my evga 295
Will my corsair 750 do the job?

It would yes.

But for your £40 all you'd see is an increase in your electricity bill, and increased temperatures of everything in your case. There's little point in physx, less point in getting a dedicated card, and less point still in getting a dedicated card if you already have lots of gpu power.

so... buy the 8800GT and sell it on?

I'd have thought with the few titles that support physx currently as its mostly incidental effects the 295GTX could absorb the extra work with little if any performance hit and probably be faster than using a 8800GT.
