ey guys

i have had this card for three days, been playing crysis/ut3 with it, at first i started to get artifacts so i increased the fan speed from 29% to 70%, it didnt fix it, then after about a day the problem dissapeared, then today it just refuses to boot up, no picture being displayed, blank screen, monitor doesnt even come out of its power saving state.

my motherboard is an abit ip35-e, i have 2gb 667mhz, core 2 duo e6400 a maxtor 80gb ide hard drive, an hitachi deskstar 160gb sata, thermalright ultra 120 extreme with tx-2 paste, 2 120mm akasa fans in push pull config, and 2 120mm fans for front and back.
and i have a 600watt ocz stealthxstream psu, cdrw/dvdrw drive and am running vista ultimate

i have tested it with another graphics card (7600gt) and works perfectly, so i have narrowed it down to the 8800gt being the problem.

i am pretty upset about the service since at first i waited for 9 days for it to be delivered and i ordered next day delivery, which normally takes 2-5 days.
i phoned up support and its engaged (0871 222 8528)

i dont know what to do

Edit: its the OCUK model

Next day delivery takes 2 to 5 days?!

Drop them a webnote saying what the problem is and that you want a replacement. They'll issue you with a RMA number and take it from there.

I should think they'll return a new one pretty sharphish as long as they are in stock.

I know it's disappointing, but it's one of those things really - sometimes tech goes wrong.

ps and you probably know this anyway, but the shop and forum are not linked, other than OCUK pay for it!!

What PSU do you have and what are the PSU's specifications?.

Edit: Sorry I never seen the PSU bit (DOH!) :o. That would be fine to run a GT.

Sorry.

Welcome to the forums :D.

thanks guys, i am pretty pis*ed right now
i am a moderator for techpowerup and am getting the urge to right a review about their services, with all that is happening it doesnt look like it will be a nice one

Of course they are, many employees at OcUK have accounts and post in these forums for marketing, sales and hint dropping purposes. Even the chairman of OcUK is a frequent poster.

There is a product suggestion sub-forum and even a job vacancy's sub-forum. So how can you say they are not linked? :p:D

OP, your life expectancy is going to be very short here, if you even think of putting down OcUK, write as many reviews about their service as you like it won't help your graphics card situation.
Drop them a webnote explaining the hardware situation and they should sort you out asap.

I'd at least wait till you speak to someone before doing so. We've all received duff hardware before regardless of the company you buy it from. It's just one of those things that will always happen. You might have just phoned at a busy time btw and no point in even thinking about writing a bad review about receiving a duff card as it happens all over the world and plus you'd have to write about Nvidia and not OCUK :D ?.

I've never had a problem with any OCUK parts I've received so that's why I'm asking you to wait till you've been in contact with someone :).

i have had quite a lot of problems with them, i dont know why.
but 3 days... should they at least make sure the batch is good

Edit: i have recieved the rma, boxed up my card, put the posting details on.

The batch might be good?. A duff card isn't something new to anyone and I don't mean that cheekily. I'd be annoyed too but to vent that in OCUK's direction is pointless as they don't assemble the cards. They just sell them.

Also there would be a thread about a certain brand if they all continued to come back fried.

In the sense that shop queries/complaints should be raised with the shop via telephone or webnote/email. These are not official OCUK support forums, and all threads raising shop issues get closed, that's why I said they're not linked. But you knew that! :)

As OCUK fund the forums, they can use them for marketing and sales purposes, of course they can. We users benefit by sharing knowledge and getting help, and rather handily can shift old kit in the For Sale section before buying new stuff.

Just not for shop issues, read the rules....

My mate had a faulty 8800GT, we both ordered the exact same card within 5mins of each other, i paid £10 less, as soon as i ordered over the phone, the prices went up :D

Both received on the same day, his VRAM was faulty, causing artifacts within 5 mins on crysis on High, even on Medium. I swear it was that Turtle on the landing beach...

We waiting 27 days from ordering to receiving, he was pretty annoyed to say the least when he had to wait for an RMA turn around, luckily it was only a week :D
