Hey guys,
I recently built a new system:

Dell 2407 (A04) + Viewsonic VX2025wm via DVI
Intel Q6600 95W
Abit IP-35
2GB Corsair TwinX XMS2 DDR2 PC2-6400
XFX 8800GTS 640MB
Antec 900
Freezer 7 pro
etc etc.

I'm running windows XP and the latest release of the nVidia drivers. Theres visible tearing in almost every video I play, whether it be flash, quicktime and every other codec under the sun. I've tried different drivers, with no luck resolving the issue. I've downloaded rivatuner to see if there's any 'tweaks' in there that I could use but nothing.

I'm looking into going ATi again, but I'm worried about noticing performances decreases if I do (3870XT).

Is there anything I should try before I sell the 8800 and gun for the 3870?

Right I see. I haven't had any issues with that in video but I did used to get that in games during the cut scenes.

The latest drivers seem to of cured that for me. Have you tried the advanced options in the nvidia control panel? I think that it's under 'adjust video settings'.

The other thing you could try is ffdshow.

I don't have 'adjust video settings' in my nvidia control panel, only 'adjust video colour settings'. Could you take a screen shot of what you mean?

I got tearing in videos with onboard Nvidia 6150 when the video memory was set to 64MB. Changing to 128MB. But you're not using onboard...

That's it. Click on the advanced tab and try the tick box at the bottom.

What codecs/dvd software are you using?

You're getting 60fps+ of out Crysis???

Its mainly during cutscenes, its really bad when i made it out of core, i wont post any spoilers but a huge alien starts shooting (in the cutscene) and i cannot view any of it.

and no i dont get 60 fps in crysis, what are you thinking

Have you got another card you could try? you never know, it could always be another component.

Nope, no other PCI-e cards (just made the switch).

Do you know of any high street stores with a no quibbles return policy? It would be worth buying a cheap card to test if it is the card or another component..or any kind soul in Stoke with a PCI-e card could borrow me one for a day to test with? :P

I rebooted and it still does it.

I tried uninstalling the drivers (completely, using Driver Cleaner), installed the latest beta 169.28's and it's still doing it :(
