I have two boards 8800GTX Extreme or 9600GT AMP edition I was going to send the 8800 back but before I do I thought I would see what peoples suggestions were with regard to either of these boards

Without a doubt keep the 9600 board as that is today's technology and the 8800GTX is just yesterdays old technology.

If gaming at 2560 x 1600 res with 16 x AA/AF on Crysis, you will find that the 9600 is more than adequate for the task.

I was about to chastise you for actually believing that!

In line with this, I would suggest you sell both and get a second-hand
9800 Pro as nothing beats it at 2560x1600 with AA/AF maxed out. 9800 is bigger than 9600 and a lot bigger than 8800 so it all makes sense.

There's me thinking 8800GTX was on almost par with 9800GTX, which is surely better than a 9600GT?

So I would keep the 8800GTX :) or sell it to me :)

9800 GTX is slower than the 8800 GTX, the 9600 GT is a lot slower, its below the 8800 GT. :)

Goes like this (Fastest at top).

9800 GX2
8800 Ultra
8800 GTX
9800 GTX = 8800 GTS 512mb
8800 GT
9600 GT

Id keep the 8800 GTX and get rid of the 9600 GT. :p

Just to0 clarify

Ok thanks for the input I have 2 19" that will allow 1280 x 1024 so based on that what board should I keep the 9600 or 8800 I have read some of the reviews for it and they seem to suggest the 8800 board is faster than the 9600 ?

9800 GX2
3870 X2
8800 Ultra
8800 GTX
9800 GTX
8800 GTS 512mb
8800 GT
9600 GT
3870 not much in it between the 9600GT

Having played with pretty much all the cards the GTX is the most consistent in AVG FPS. Just playing Crysis again with the 8800GTX and its a far better experience than the 8800 GTS. Not seen any sudden single figure FPS drops which I think is party due to the bigger frame buffer of the 8800GTX.

Go for a 2nd hand or OcUK Special 8800 GTX deals if you can.
