8800gtx too hot?

my 8800gtx recently reached 96c (no overclock)and since then I've seen a few artifacts on the witcher and cod4, the card isn't new but its still under warranty should i rma it

Has it been cleaned out? maybe you have dust in the fan/heat sink.

Get rivatuner and turn your fan up to 100%

lol nope hasn't been cleaned out, contacted dell said exactly what i said above and they said they ll send someone out to replace it

Ouch, yeah that's hot. Good Dell are replacing it. You could always see whether you can persuade them to leave the "broken" one behind after. Most likely the cooler's choked with dust. Just switched mine over to an AC Accelero Xtreme and was amazed how filthy it was (only had it about 3 months).

when I got mine it was idleing at around 75 and cranking at 85, installed rivatuner to find it had fan profile set, made my own up now get 60 idle and 77 tops. its well worth doing, or you can set it to 100% if you like as well. Was surprised how bad the fan speed was setup!

I bet they will just blow out the dust and re-install it.
UNLESS you are lucky and get a newbie doing it

lol thanks for the comments,the annoying thing is that ill have to take a day off what a shame lol, tbh ive only seen artifacts on two games but still on two games is two games too many
