What has become of this country?!

A church clock which has been wound manually since 1793 may have to be replaced at a cost of £5,500 - because climbing an 8ft ladder is "dangerous".

I would imagine it's a rickety old thing just about big enough to squeeze a small child through, so hardley suprising.

the stupid health n safety brigade have taken over thats what has gone wrong.

My work will not entertain the use of ladders beyond the height of about 4 feet.

I dont think H and S are doing anything. Nothing stopping the ladder from slipping from under its self.

It even says in the link, it was because the ladder wasn't supported.

Just sounds like the church want to put something and using this as a reason.
