About the 920 D0 at £180 - that's because it has technically been replaced by the 930 - which is basically a new stepping of the 920 with one extra on the multiplier as far as I can tell. That's the main reason for the price being decreased.
It is a good point that I'd forgotten about - they'll both be the same for gaming (a 955 and an i7 920 are the same when gaming), so just see which does better in the encoding tests and make your decision from there.
Also, all high end CPU coolers weigh a ton - the Tuniq Tower 120 I had was about 1kg if I remember correctly.
