9800GTX or 3870X2

Building my kid brothers new rig over next couple of weeks, but we're not sure on which way to go with regards to graphics.

Do we get the 3870X2 or will the 9800GTX be on par or better? I'm leaning towards the ATi but as they will both be priced in the bracket I thought I should get some advice.

He will be gaming on a 22" or maybe a 24" monitor.

was not thinking about the GX2, its the 9800GTX I'm referring to as it will be priced very close to the ati X2.

Face it when you say its "virtually" the same your sayin that its ISNT the same but you dont want to look at the bigger picture and realise that they are different. Obviously they may be close but how many of you can honestly say they believe what other people are putting on the internet. I know that im going to get a 9800gtx then decide for myself how good it is. And on top of all that they say that its nearly the same price as the 3870X2 but how many of you have found stores that have the prices for a 9800gtx? I havnt found any that are legit.

I have found several e-tailers listing 9800GTX prices, many of them are very reputable.

I have decided to go for he 3870X2, but will wait until GTX reviews are out.

But I'm not expecting much from it after looking at the specs. My BFG8800 GTS OC looks almost identical, infact its currently clocked higher than the 9800GTX bar the mem. (my mem is at 2000)

nether of them just buy 8800gts g92 its same as gtx and cheaper save your money for next gen

allready have a gts in my system, just wanted something else to play with.

Ordered a 3870X2, should arrive today, if CityLink can get their act together.
