A 170mph vectra :O

lol

"If i say it did 170 then it did,why would i lie,im not some chav in a 1.2 nova fiddling with myself in a maccy d car park because ive just seen a shiny evo go past ."

I doubt it could do 170, but if it was lighter then it would affect the top speed?

Yes that would be so in many cases, but if the engine is geared highly and cannot reach its 'red line' point, then less weight would help... still doesnt do 170mph though haha

I was under the impression the major factor acting against a car when moving is the wind and rolling resistance, weight has very little to do with it? The faster you go the more power you need to combat the wind resistance?

Cant quite make it out, but it doesnt look like it. I'd be very surprised if it did though!

Maybe it was just a guess, based on how fast the trees were moving?

Didn't think they did, 160mph on the dash seems standard for this age and type of car.

Yep, so given the fact i won't even show 170mph on the dash and if the clocks did ever read the max speed of 160mph the most thats actually going to be is 150mph, he's 20mph off the magic number!

Interesting stuff :p

Someone should buy it then take him to court for misrepresentation.

Yup, 160mph, much clearer here:

I was under the same impression that resistance was the most relevant factor, a little bit less weight might help as it would decrease the rolling resistance a bit (especially if it was unsprung weight). Taking the seats out a vectra still wont make it do 170 though!
that's a different speedo

/edit ignore me, being a wally.

The first pic goes up in tens and stops at 140 the way I see it. You can see where it changes from double to triple figures and there's too many before that for it to go up in twenties. Are both pics from a v6 vectra?
