Here are a couple of shots that I've not posted until now, can't remember taking them to be honest and noticed them just now going through some of my files.

Both with a Canon S3 IS, C+C Welcome :)

I like both but I think they would have worked better if you had gone with the rule of thirds and placed the seagull a lot more to the right and the fire towards the bottom of the image. There's something really nice about the seagull picture, can't put my finger on it though, maybe it's the lighting etc?

I like the fire one :)

How do you rate the S3 IS? Reviews say its pretty good, but I'm wondering if its worth stumping up another £100 or so for an entry DSLR instead.

Movie capture on it seems very good for a camera, which would be useful.

The S3 IS is a good camera to start with if you are not 100% sure on going DSLR, which I am now going to do, currently looking to get a Canon 350D, don't see any benefit to the 400D apart from 10mp and self cleaning sensor.

Movie mode on the S3 is excellent, I won't be selling it even when I get the 350D.

I know nothing about photgraphy, but the campfire pic is cool. I have "borrowed" it for my desktop and hope this is ok?

Centre it and it leaves anice gap down either side for the few icons that I use.

I like the thirds suggestion for the gull, but think both would make great shots. What I love about the gull picture is the faint cloud behind, so many shots like this are just blue sky, they just dont work as well as this.

Perfectly ok mate, just don't start selling it :p

Thanks for the rest of the comment guys, really makes it all worth while, and yes I do agree with the rule of thirds for the camp fire and gull, but.....there's always a but.

The gull was a quick shot as they came overhead as we were eatin some chips, so I didn't have time to think really and wanted to get a good shot and the camp fire well a few beers later and you forget about the rule of thirds ;)

Thanks again, hope to improve on these once I get my 350D :D

hehe fair enough, they're both really nice shots regardless! I always like to comment no matter how small an opinion on something I have as I like it when people do it to my photos. :D
