I went out to Brecon on Tuesday and took some pretty poor photos, however there are one or two nice ones. I've only had chance to edit a few. C&C is welcome:

#2

#3

I was half thinking of putting number 3 in for the comp, my main problem is its not a point - ok its the point where the stones vanish. What do you think? I've been trying to do something thats not obvious like a train line or a river (although I have one or two river shots).

Cheers

Personally No.3 looks a bit bland to me, this is only the opinion of a layman though. First 2 are quite the opposite plenty of detail and very interesting, the watermark steals a bit of focus though, needs to be a bit smaller unless you are really worried about tea leafs.

You've nailed #2. That's a perfect angle for that image. The whole thing works really well.

I'd imagine you could make a few pennies from stock sites with that.

Well I shot it looking for a milky type effect to the water and the stones sliding into it. It does look a little bland but then again for me its kinda the point :P

Cheers like I said I kinda had an off day I never really captured a great shot but I did have so much fun and the beacons is so nice that it really didn't matter

Yea maybe I'm being a bit over zealous - it just you hear so many people having problems with their work being stolen, just look at that lady on Flickr.

Thanks - I've never really looked into making money from photography as its a hobbie for me not a job and nearly everyone hear posts better pics than me. Mind you if you want the rights I'll sell it for a 70-200 L glass ;)

I really like the third image. The contrast of the stones fading into the deeper water is great. It might be worth entering it into the competition, at least as a place holder, as although it may not score that highly on technical marks, I think it's a very different interpretation of the theme. I'm sure the judges are looking for something slightly different from just shots of traintracks, as you say.

Yea I'll put it in a "maybe" folder for now. Like I said there is not a "point" in the shot unless you count the point where the stones vanish - and as you cant have an explanation of your shot it lowers the chance of a good score.

I do have one shot of a stream which needs some TLC. It looks like a post card image though and its just a stream running off into the distance - which isn't that original. Still its early days on the comp side and I will hopefully be out tomorrow taking photos so I might get something then!
