Morning all,

Currently have a gtx980 paired with a ryzen 1600 @ 3.8ghz.

It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm tempted to treat myself to a new (secondhand gfx).

I currently game at 1080 but later in the year I would like to look at a 4k monitor.

Is a 1070ti or 1080ti a capable 4k gfx card?

I Usually upgrade cards every 4 years or so therefore looking longterm.

Main game is Battlefield.

Does Amd have a decent competitor?

Thanks!

Hi which BF? I play BF4 and BFV at 4K, quite a difference in gpu demand. Previous GTX 1070 could play BF4 at top settings, but was struggling with BFV, so best bet is RTX 2xxx series to open up ray tracing on BFV, and (this years?) BF6, which will no doubt be a bit of a gpu killer.

Yeah it's the latest battlefield and will be looking at the latest bF6 when it's released hopefully end of this year.

So something like a 2080 or would a 2060 suffice?

Battlefield multi player needs a good CPU and the 2070 is the same as a 1080ti, which isn't a 4k card. Especially not in a year or 2.

Why not get a 1440p monitor?

Thanks mate... Never considered a 1440p. I guess will still be a nice step from 1080.

I didn't consider the new features the RTX cards bring so will have a look into it a bit more.

I too would bin the 4K idea if upto date gaming is the plan. You'll soon find yourself spending silly money if you intend to keep up at 4K.

1440P or 1440 UW is a better bet.
